Windy Acres Dairy is a small-scale grass-fed dairy operation that is committed to producing high-quality and nutritious raw dairy products for our community. We believe good food begins with healthy and happy animals, thoughtful stewardship of the land and time-honored practices. We are grateful to share our farm, our animals and the nourishment they provide.
Windy Acres was established in 1994 as a hobby farm in Prineville, Oregon. The farm turned into an operational, certified Grade A Dairy in 2003 and we milked our first cows in the parlor on October 31st of that year. We began with 44 cows and our herd has fluctuated over the years from as few as just 10 milking cows to as many as 60. We currently raise calves, lambs and pigs for the food chain of natural, grass and milk fed meat, as well as chickens and ducks for eggs and meat. We are proud to operate a licensed Grade A dairy by the State of Oregon that allows us to provide our raw milk cheeses to the public, stores and restaurants. We also participate in several Farmers’ Markets in Central Oregon where we sell our raw milk cheeses, raw honey, fresh eggs, sourdough baked goods and more.
Since our inception, Windy Acres has been guided and inspired by the principles of the Weston A. Price Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense traditional foods and regenerative, pasture-based farming practices. The Foundation is rooted in the research of Dr. Weston A. Price, who studied traditional cultures worldwide and found that whole, minimally processed foods — particularly raw dairy from grass-fed animals — supported strong health and vitality. These values shape how we steward our land and care for our animals. We believe healthy pastures lead to healthy cows, and healthy cows produce nourishing and delicious milk.
We are honored to have been named Raw Milk Farmer of the Year in 2022 by the Weston A. Price Foundation in recognition of our commitment to high-quality, pasture-based raw dairy. To learn more about the Foundation’s philosophy and educational work, visit westonaprice.org.
